RCER 800

Cross Reference

RCER 800

Elliptical shape, high surface load, very high impulse load and overload

The RCE HP is a wire resistance wound on a ceramic elliptical support coated with inorganic phosphate cement. The purpose of the coating is to (1) ensure the mechanical protection of the wire, (2) allow a uniform heat distribution and (3) limit thermal expansion of the coils. The coating does not have an electrical insulation function. The RCE HP is available in the low inductance version; in this case, it is called RCEN; it is available with an adjustment slider; in this case, it is called RCER; and with a fixed intermediate socket, in this case, it is called RCEP. The latter cannot be purchased through e-commerce, please contact our sales department: sales@dev.fairfild.com. Compared to the lower power RCE family (31 W to 91 W), this family is very different in size and electrical characteristics. It also provided for the version with mica guide bar to increase the isolation level, for the purchase please contact our sales department.

In what sectors is this resistance used?

The main areas of application are industrial automation, energy.

For what types of applications is it used?

The product is used as a basic element in harmonic filter circuits, as a basic element for neutral earthing resistors, as a resistance to start up motors, as a charge and discharge capacitor resistance in RC circuits as a base element for resistive loads.

What are the electrical specifications?

The RCE HP family has 7 models with power ratings from 300 W to 1800 W and the ohmic value ranges between 0.51 Ω and 7.5K Ω. The maximum voltage of use is 3000 V.

What are the overload conditions?

The resistance can be overloaded with respect to its nominal power based on the working cycle (insertion and rest time). For duration pulse less than one second, the overload permissible also depends on the ohmic value. For non-repetitive pulses the relation is 10 times the nominal power for 5 seconds and 2 times the nominal power for 2 minutes.

What is the temperature of the resistance?

The temperature of the resistance depends on the power that it will dissipate. Numerous factors influence the dissipation capacity; please consult our technical data sheet for detailed information. The RCE at nominal power reaches a surface temperature of around 350°C.
Resistance is normally assembled in groups via rods and ceramic spacer bushings. Thanks to the elliptical shape, the RCE lends itself to be ventilated. The terminals in stainless steel are suitable for connection via cable terminals. If installed in a group we recommend keeping a distance between the resistances of at least 30 mm.
