RMS 9
RMS 9
Stainless steel terminals for screws M6, very robust design for high energy pulses and heavy overload
The RMS is a wire resistance wound on ceramic U-bolts mounted on a metal support. Thanks to this construction the thermal resistance is very low: the wire is free to exchange heat with the surrounding air very efficiently. Even in terms of the heat capacity the RMS ensures very high performances. The version with mica bar ensures insulation values higher beyond a lower weight.

In what sectors is this resistance used?
The main areas of application are industrial automation, energy and railway sector. For what types of applications is it used?
The product is used as a dynamic braking resistance, as a basic element for neutral earthing resistors, as a resistance to start up motors, as a charge and discharge capacitor resistance in RC circuits as a base element for resistive loads. What are the electrical specifications?
The RMS family has 6 models with power ratings from 0.9 kW to 3.6 kW and the ohmic value ranges between 1 Ω and 110 Ω. The Rated insulation voltage of use is 1000 V or 3000 V in the case of mica guide bar. What are the overload conditions?
The resistance can be overloaded with respect to its nominal power based on the working cycle (insertion and rest time). For duration pulse less than one second, the overload permissible also depends on the ohmic value. See the section on overloads in the data sheet. What is the temperature of the resistance?
The temperature of the resistance depends on the power that it will dissipate and on the ohmic value. The chart on page 2 of the data sheet shows the amount of power which can be dissipated considering the temperature of the wire equal to 600°C. Many other factors affect the ability of dissipation; please consult our technical data sheet for detailed information.
Resistance is normally assembled in groups via rods and ceramic spacer bushings. Thanks to its shape, the RMS lends itself to be ventilated. The terminals in stainless steel are suitable for connection via cable terminals. If installed in a group we recommend keeping a distance between the resistances of at least 30 mm.
