RCH 700

Cross Reference

RCH 700

Wire wound on ceramic support filled with quarzite sand closed into an AISI 304 tube sealed with resin and gasket

The RCH is a unique resistance: the stainless steel tube makes it mechanically robust and suitable for high temperatures. The electrical terminals on the threaded bar minimize the entrance of moisture. The double silicone sheath gives the enclosure an IP65 degree of protection. The electrical terminals are external and therefore have an IP00 degree of protection. The insulator bushings at the ends have an escape line of 110 mm.

In what sectors is this resistance used?

The main areas of application are the energy and railway sector.

For what types of applications is it used?

The product is used: as a dynamic terminating resistor, as a basic element in harmonic filter circuits, as a basic element for neutral earthing resistors, as a resistance to start up motors, as a charge and discharge resistance in RC circuits as protection from surges.

What are the electrical specifications?

The RCH family has 4 models with power ratings from 90 W to 220 W and the ohmic value ranges between 0.82 Ω and 39K Ω. The maximum operating voltage is 4000 V, but there are special versions with which it is possible to reach Unm voltage values of up to 27.5 kV.

What are the overload conditions?

The resistance can be overloaded with respect to its nominal power based on the working cycle (insertion and rest time). For duration pulse less than one second, the overload permissible also depends on the ohmic value. For non-repetitive pulses the relation is 10 times the nominal power for 5 seconds and 2 times the nominal power for 2 minutes.

What is the temperature of the resistance?

The temperature of the resistance depends on the power that it will dissipate. Numerous factors influence the dissipation capacity; please consult our technical data sheet for detailed information. See chart on page 2 of the data sheet to understand the relationship between the power administered and the external case temperature (for horizontal mounting).
The resistance is suitable to be installed outside. Generally it is advisable to position horizontally so that the heat generated does not jeopardize the features of the internal components such as the seals. The electrical connection is established on the M8 rod.
