Plate resistor wound edgewaysThe RNP is a resistance with strip wrapped edgeways on ceramic U-bolts mounted on a metal rod. Thanks to this construction the thermal resistance is very low: the strip is in fact free to exchange heat with the surrounding air very effectively. Even in terms of the heat capacity the RNP ensures very high performances. The RNP series does not provide default ohmic values or predetermined resistive alloys. Only the length of the bar is fixed. The main areas of application are industrial automation and the railway sector.

The product is used: as a dynamic braking resistor, as motor starting resistance and as protection from surges.
1. What are the electrical specifications?
The RNP family provides for 3 models with power ratings from 800 W to 4400 W depending on the strip used. The ohmic value varies from 0.1 Ω to 4.3 Ω. The maximum voltage of use is 1500 V.
2. What are the overload conditions?
The resistance can be overloaded with respect to its nominal power based on the working cycle (insertion and rest time). For duration pulse less than one second, the overload permissible also depends on the ohmic value.
3. What is the temperature of the resistance?
The temperature of the resistance depends on the power that it will dissipate and on the ohmic value. The first page of the data sheet gives the surface load data for some of the strips. Other factors influence the dissipation capacity, please consult our technical data sheet for detailed information.
1. How must I install the product?
Resistance is normally assembled in groups via rods and ceramic spacer bushings. The terminals in stainless steel are suitable for connection via cable terminals. If installed in a group we recommend keeping a distance between the resistances of at least 30 mm.
